The Background Distraction:
It all started back in 1997. . . I planned out my career in tax accounting. The
idea was simple; go to college, study accounting and take extra tax classes, then pass
the enrolled agent exam and find a job. However, as Robert Frost warned, "Some of
the best laid plans of mice and men, sometimes go awry."
And they did go awry. Before graduating, I discovered a love for computer work, though it has taken me a decade to figure things out. I have grown appreciate how much we change as we go though life! Working with both small churches on IT projects which has been a rewarding experience.
The Center Stage:
When I take on a project, the first thing I
do is find out the need or problem to be solved. That need then becomes the
guide, and every decision, purchase, change, or setting, should go to solving that
need or problem. When technology ceses to
solve a need or provide a service to an organization, computers become a waste of
time and money.
Churches must be good stewards of the time and treasures God has given them. As we all know, this means being smart about spending time and money on projects; which does not mean being cheap.
What's With The Logo:
We hear sayings like, "think outside the box", or as one advertisement proclaims,
"think outside the bun". If we visualize ourselves like a box, the Holy Spirit enters
us and guides from within, thus the light shines out, rather than on, or in.
